I have been noticing my exhaust putting out a small white puff of smoke, almost like when a car is warming up in the winter, it will do this occasionally, but not always. I went and looked into this a little more and notice some oil buildup around the intake on the turbo, and some sprayed on the firewall behind it. So this brings me to think the turbo seal has gone bad, if not on it's way out completely...
This sound right to anyone, the turbo came off a Saab 9-3, not sure on the miles, same one T2 used when i bought the car, so the miles could be quite a ways up there, maybe 70-80k? Thinking it's time for a new turbo, or price out a rebuild.
My turbo was doing this, pulled it myself off a saab and when I built my motor it did this tiny drop in the intake side of the turbo and a little smoke out the exhaust. I am actually not sure about mine though be because I built the whole motor and thinking that the smoke out the exhaust was from rings seating, just keepin a eye on it and watching oil levels. Let me know if you find a good rebuild kit.
I have rebuilt 4 different turbos, they are sooooo easy to rebuild. I don't know why people hype it up so much.

You may have missed the part where I said "separate." One was for myself, and 3 for friends. Some have been on the road for more than 20000 miles with no issues at all.

lol..... how do you balance it? like you would a rod?
The compressor wheel is already balanced. Before you disassemble everything you mark the compressor wheel's (which is balanced) position relative to the turbine shaft. I used a good metal scribe to make a nice mark on them. When you reassemble make sure the marks are lined up. That's it.
