ok i have 6 G's to work with...i wanna boost my 96 Z so far its stock as far as engine goes except RKsport upper and lower motor mounts and an AEM intake....list EVERYTHING i will need and prices and where to get it please.....i think i might wanna go S/C instead of turbo but i havnt decided yet
on my list so far to spend the money on is this
Strut tower braces
4 2 1 header
cat back
look forward to your feedback
If you are going to boost, don't get the header and the cat-back. Do it all a the same time to save your money. Also, if you have 6G and your Cavi is not under any payment, I would consider of selling the Cav and just get a different car. For a 96, I would do it and get something like an Integra GS-R or an Civic SI. Not saying the Cavi sucks, but as for the ride and the quality of the car, I would consider changing my car and don't worry much about upgrading the power. Also, the car with 190 hp like an GSR can give you better gas mileage comparing to your boosted Cavi. Trust me, if you don't much money laying around, I wouldn't mess with the fuel cost on the J-body after boosting.
the reason for putting the mone into the car is because it is in very good shape...although it is a 96 it has had a new motor swapped into it with and only has 50k miles on it.....my plans are to turn this into a show car so i dont need serious hardcore performance..but i wanna be able to walk the walk to back up the show ya know
as far as show goes i have these things sitting in my den
lambo door kit
VIS carbon fiber evo hood
jsp carbon trunk
drift kit
17 x 7 motegi rims
tom motorsport seats
so i have the stuff i need i just have to put it on which i wanna do all at once then im gonna be repainting the whole car Orange
if u have a 2.4 TC get a charger.
-Borsty
ya its a 2.4 TC its a Z24
S/C or turbo? and where can i get a good SC
ooo another bit of info to tell...which is a little important...its an auto...
hmm, well, id say with 6 grand to spend, id get an airbag kit, gm charger and a zex kit, then little things like the b&m shifter, white gauge face, stuff like that

A down payment on a srt 4 is your best bet.

Are you serious?! A civic si? those things suck, and they are slower than s!@# I beat those when my 97 z24 had intake and exhaust.
si are slow, 01+ civic ex are faster
If you're gonna put 6 grand into your car make sure you'll keep it. You'll never get that money back if you decide to sell it.

ok i have been able to find a S/C but all of them say that there for a manual..i have an auto...whats the difference and will it work for my auto ..im looking at the RSM stage 2
Save your money. Dont spend it. Keep the car the way it is and be happy with it.
Thats what I would do with it.
Chalk me up for getting another car.
Too many nice cars out there these days.
Yeah get a different car. Why stick $6K into a car that's almost 10 years old and low-quality to begin with?
Rob
Sold 2/2/05
Get a nice refined GTI, 2002 and up, relatively cheap german built and turbo'd from factory. I dont care what VW Techs, barkstars, say, ive worked on 4 VWs intensly in my days and I love them even if theyre a bit quirkey.
rsm supercharger ..... and keep the z
If your planning on building a show car I suggest you get a stage 1 turbo kit.
Spend the rest of your money on other things ie. speakers, fiberglass, TV's, vinyl, paint stuff like that will get you more points at a show then a just a stage 4 turbo.

Bingo. Or the SRT4 like Jake said.
O noes!
Pace Parts will have the GM charger for both auto and stick. Look up the key word "Supercharger."
I've been considering an SRT 4 for sometime now too. I dig that car alot. It's just that I've been a GM guy all my life. I'll have to check out the Cobalt SS when I see one.

Wish i had 6k, it would make my dreams come true. With 6k u can build up a pretty stong motor. Personally i would go turbo, it can be cheaper, depending how much power u want. You can just buy all the parts u need and run stock internals, and keep it well tuned. In all that would cost you around 1500-2k. But if it were me, i'd throw it all into the motor. Or you could get a new car, but then u got other cost to worry about, and if ur like me and cant afford an ls1 insurance/payments, then putting it into ur car is all good.
