hey im am looking fro a turbo and im really liking the stage three cavalier extreme kit anybody have one or know some good stuff about it? how long is the install and how difficult is it. what kinds of other mods am i gonna need to run this like internally am i gonna need pistons rings and rods and a copper head gasket and is it worth it i probably wont get the kit till towards the end of the summer are there any kits just as good at a cheaper price
ok well i didnt really research but im assuming u have a 2.4 since its for the 2.4. boosting isnt bad a lot of guys have boosted 2.4. im running 8psi out of a T3 on bone stock 2.4 internals. and there are people running 10 and some more. but im doing 8 and keeping it at that. but that kit isnt everything your going to need so plan to spend a lot more. but turbo size is also a factor.
speed kills, drive slow, drive a honda

you want to put a stage 3 kit on a 100k mile motor... that's a very bad idea.

why........so it has 100k, as long as he replaces the pistons and rods, i don't see an issue with it

there's more to bottom end and maintenance than pistons and rods. you have to think about the entire car setup. the car itself has a lot of wear on it. if you ARE going to do the stage 3 setup, i insist on pulling the motor, and machining the block and having head work done. your cam lobes are going to start to flatten out and you will lose power. get some forced induction profile cams while you are it.

well, id say the fi cams are a tad overkill, but an inspection is definatley due before boosting a high mileage car, but just becasue a car is high miles doesn't mean you shouldn't work on it

ive got 120k miles on my 2200 and almost all the bolt-ons for the motor... no problems at all.

ok... i have 154k on my bottom end, 40k on my new ported head, and i keep it maintained. so what? my front main seal is shot to @!#$ and it makes wierd noises sometimes. the point is, you get sludge buildup, things wear out, cam lobes go flat, and you lose power that can be restored by doing a buildup. boltons do not put a fraction of the irregular wear on an engine that boost does.

duh..
i know that that wasnt my point.
the point was that you shouldnt just tell him

when he dosent really need to unless he is going to go high psi..the only difference in the stage 1 and 3 or the 3 has an intercooler which just lets you turn up the boost safely an the fmu which is for tuning... (correct me if im wrong)
and youde wanna change the cam anyway because your going boost...

hey ive been reading all the stuff on here and would it be safe to boost my 98 z24 2.4 with 147000 kms on itb if only 6-8 psi? thanks
I don't see why it would be too big of a problem if you maintained your engine properly...
Don't quote me on that though...

i'm just saying that a stage 3 kit is designed to run higher boost. so i was under the impression that the person would want to be running in excess of 10 to 12 psi

High milage doesn't mean jack. Just make sure your gaskets are good, your rings are still sealing, fuel injectors are clean, and (I believe it's somewhat of a LD9 problem) your bearings are still in spec. And maybe a lifter check would be a good idea, too.
I wouldn't have a problem boosting a 300k mi engine if it was well maintained

^ exactly
Spotabee Racing? the stage 3 is designed for 8psi of boost...not 12psi
but yea things do wear out. but like prev posts state if its been well maintained then there is no problem...
"There is no point in looking fast if your not."
I'm running 8psi on my 2.2l with 150+k
I did blow my head gasket though a bad thermostat did that for me
horsepower is how hard you hit the wall, Torque is how far you push the wall with you

That seems to be a little overkill. I am sure that there are plenty of people with high milage motors running boost without too many probs.
275hp & 306tq - 1999 2.2 ohv
13.2 @ 108 mph
-1996 2.4 liter + Turbo + Built motor + Torco + More boost = Lots o' Power
-2000 Mustang GT + 2004 Cobra motor, Whipple 2.3 supercharger,
built rear-end,Dodge Viper spec T56 6 speed, bolt-ons = wheelies at the track!!!!!
I only have this to add. My 1998 2200 cavalier had 78,000 on her with every bolt on i could find. But honestly I didn't think running boost on even that high of miles was smart so i rebuilt the entire engine to be safe and honestly i think you should do the same otherwise problems will arise.
When I sold the project car with our production turbo kit on it, I had almost 80K miles ...

STILL WAITING ON FRIGGIN DYNO NUMBERS!!! ...... LEANING TOWARDS HAHN!!!
You can go with Hahn if you'd like, but I can guarantee that you won't beat our prices and the quality work that you get for such a low amount of money.
I'm hoping for some of our past customers to get this on the dyno as soon as possible considering that our project car is now gone...

Das koo n all frank but... What car did you use to fabricate these kits... For fitment and everything... Why dont you just dyno that car....??? Im sure you installed this kit on a car to make sure everything fit and worked correctly... Right?
^
Yep, I had to sell the car. Now I don't have another car to put the kit on to dyno it if I want
