2000 rpm and upgraded injectors....
Saturday, July 09, 2005 3:06 AM
ugh, this is my third set of injectors i am running (550cc) and for every set i've used somewhere at exactly 2000rpm in each gear the motor leans out and misfires. its pretty much annoyed me since i went turbo and a minor 320cc, but now its a real pain in the ass with these injectors. it just completely misses (20:1 afr) that 2000rpm beat.

heres the kicker it only happens with 5-40% throttle. anymore and it clears right out. so far i'm trying the additional injection map on the emanage to override the injectors but so far no good. and because i am have the emanage i can see the pulsewidth jumps from 1.2-1.6ms to .5ms at 2000rpms.

having gone through three sets of injectors, i know someone has to have the same problem here. so please speak up!

maybe you have a bad tp sensor?Put a voltmeter on it and turn the throttle,if it goes up nice and smooth its good.If the voltage jumps around its bad.It should read 0.495v at idle and close to 5v wot.Good luck.

nope its not the tps. that was causing me a few problems a month or so back, so thats replaced. actually looking at the emanage i see the full voltage range on it anyway.

on a side note, another problem... blip the throttle about 5-10% from a dead stop when the motor is idling, does it feel like its about to die? i see the same performance from the injectors dipping down into the .8ms or under. the motor goes from 1000 at idle to roughly 800 or less ready to die. but hit the throttle a bit quicker say over >10% throttle from a stop and it runs fine.

hmm thats pretty weird, mine with the emanage just runs great until it warms up then all the sudden the inj pw drops right down until the car stalls... cant figure out was causes it, i unpluged my o2 sensor i runs awsome put a new o2 in and it still does the same thing. so im just driving it without an o2 with no problems.

but it kinda sounds similar since mine will just start pulling fuel out as soon as it gets to operating temp. and there is nothing i can do to stop it with the emanage

derek, thats ironic i just thought of that myself. i ran without the narrowband o2 hooked up to the pcm, and even though it ran pretty rich. it ran without a hitch. so at least this tells me it is NOT.... the injectors, the o2 sensor, or the emanage.

i think i am answering my own question here, but it MUST be a DTC with the pcm. i have too many CEL's to notice if this one is coming up. but i bet its that 2000rpm point is where the DTC will clear. my guess, its pulling a dtc every idle and clearing over 2000rpm.

in that case... no more narrowband o2 sensor.

ya i have been driving without my o2 for quite a while now, runs awsome and having a wideband to moniter and tune it i realy dont need it anyway...

the only codes my car throws is the code for my o2 and map voltage low

02 simulator... you can plug mine in dave and see if that helps . What happened to you last night? Why did you guys keep going after you raced that Turbo Supra.

luke, that turbo supra gave me the time of day to keep running time and time again with it. i'm not willing to pass that up even though he was eating me up.

he was running 22-23 psi on a single turbo setup, on race gas and a AEM EMS (500-550whp)

i hung from 60-85... after that i was toast, even at 11psi!!

being on topic, i unplugged the o2 sensor and the 2000rpm point has cleared up. but even on this emanage and afpr at 20psi, these injectors are running in the low 10:1 in cruise and missfiring badly.

on yet another side note i noticed an exhaust leak, which is most likely messing with the narrowband o2 sensor as well.

geekd, what afpr do you have? most i have seen the lowest psi you can set is 30 - 35 psi.......the Accel one, umm http://store.summitracing.com/default.asp?target=partdetail.asp?part=ACC-74565
there is a link

http://store.summitracing.com/default.asp?Ntt=aeromotive+afpr&Ntk=KeywordSearch&DDS=1&searchinresults=false&N=0&target=egnsearch.asp

i found this one, but it doesnt say afpr and im new to this so any other name it goes by equivalates to something completely different.

If this is what you have then why does it say 30-70? shouldnt it say 0-70? This is exactly what the Accel one says. 35-70. (PSI Range)

If this is not it, can you please link me? I would ask how much it is, but once i see the link i will know

Thanks
