built ecotec what fuel/ignition mods?
Saturday, July 09, 2005 11:05 AM
I plan on getting a used eco and building it internally, and boosting the bajesus outta it...then putting it in the cavy...now i know i need a bigger fuel pump, injectors, etc...but also the stock ecu is not gonna know what to do with the performance goodies and make it run good. So my question is what would i need in order to make it run good, fuel management and ignition control etc...

Apexi SAFC-II ..you can find those all over ebay for around $200.00 ish not sure how great they respond with our ecos ECU's ..alot of people using them on the LD9's..so im not sure if it will be a simple task to get it running with it.

As for the FMU you can get the highly popular Cartech/Begi AFMU for around $200.00 also. maybe cheaper used on ebay. $200.00 is brand new. If you get any kind of FMU make sure its adjustable..you spend a little more for less headaches with FMU disc's.

I see a ebay auction for this item that say its only good up to 9 psi, i was hopeing to boost around 10-13 psi on my ecotec by the time i was done buying everything. Would this then not be for me?? Here is the link, if it not, then what FMU would be good for 10-13psi?

p.s. i dont plan on buying it from ebay, i just noticed it said "best used on 9psi or less" i wanted to make sure that was correct....

i think they mean if your running this alone as a fuel managment. in your case you'll have a combination of the FMU , injectors, fuel pump and electronics control for pulse lenth (apexi SAFC). if you get big enough injectors for the job those combinations and a dyno tune should do you good hopefully =)
