does anyone on here with a the 2.2 ohv boosted know how to get around the crappy 1 bar map sensor in these cars? I've read about people using check valves but only on the 2.4s so i was curious. I know the 2 bar maps out of the late 80's pontiac sunbird turbos work but i am looking for something to modify my stock one...any ideas would be awesome. Thanks
ya the check valves work for the 2.2 ohv to. works quite well.
My 2200 has been turboed since July 2004 without a map sensor, and I havent noticed any problems.
275hp & 306tq - 1999 2.2 ohv
13.2 @ 108 mph
-1996 2.4 liter + Turbo + Built motor + Torco + More boost = Lots o' Power
-2000 Mustang GT + 2004 Cobra motor, Whipple 2.3 supercharger,
built rear-end,Dodge Viper spec T56 6 speed, bolt-ons = wheelies at the track!!!!!
you're not using the map the sensor at all. or just not using a check valve
Oops, I meant that I am not using a map sensor. I doubt the car would even run without the map sensor, I already tried.

Ok, hold on...i gotta start re-reading my post. I am not using a CHECK VALVE.

That's what i figured you meant. I'm not running any sort of check valve either. I run 15 lbs. of boost, a little nitrous, e-manage, and run pig rich at idle. And i don't have any problems at all, not even a check engine light.
i have a ? im bout to turbo my 2200. with a t3 turbo wastegate and blowoff valve low boost. is there ne thing else i would need like this map sensor. im a little lost.
DRIVE HARD OR DONT DRIVE AT ALL!!!
Thanks for all the help, i just wasn't sure about the check valves because of the way the map sensor plugs right into the intake manifold on the 2.2. Do i have to tap the hole and put a fitting in or is there an easier way? I've never really looked into this but for some reason i'm still throwing a code and that's the only thing i can see doing it.
