Cavalier Intercooler Piping - As Promised
Monday, August 08, 2005 7:04 PM
Hey guys,

As I promised, I was up at the shop today and I snapped a few pictures. Like I said, we've been working on quite a few things. Here's a picture of the EXACT PIPING for a 2.4L Cavalier. This will be offered with the intercooler, blow off valve (your choice), silicone boots and reducers (along with T-Bolt clamps which aren't pictured) AND all brackets/hardware for $700 Shipped.

Of course, the pipes will all be chrome finished. These were just the test pipes:

And here's just a random picture of all of the flanges we've got on the wall:

As I have more updates, I'll post them. These should be finished up by Friday or Saturday, we're working on getting the bends and everything exact. From there, we'll work on everything else that needs to be done...

Thanks.

So, let's say for instance, that the consumer already has an intercooler and the blow off valve, are you interested in selling the rest of the kit for a lesser price?

Reason being, I already have a pretty large Front Mount of my own, along with a Blitz DD BOV and I would prefer to buy some premade piping, as opposed to having an exhaust shop do my piping.

Sure man, I can sell you just the piping if you'd like. Do you have the 2.4L motor? Also, I'm not too sure what flange that would be for, so the pipes probably wouldn't have the BOV flange welded on (unless you'd like to mail me the blow off valve or flange).

Let me know.

Yes, I do have the 2.4 motor, and I also have the flange for the blow off valve. Is the piping made of aluminum or steel? I have the aluminum flange, and I bought it a long time ago before I was told that welding the two different materials isn't really a good idea. I may be wrong, but that's just what I was told.

How much am I looking to pay for the piping, couplers/reducers and t-clamps? And when will the pipes be available for production? You have at least one buyer when the day comes

Weird, it said the email didnt go through..

I'll just post it here:

I should have the pipes available for purchase around Friday evening or
Saturday. It all just depends on when we can finish things up...

The pipes are aluminum by the way. If you want, you can mail the
flange to me and we'll weld that baby on for you As far as the price
goes, for just the piping, silicone boots and T-Bolt Clamps, you'd be
looking at about $550 Shipped.

If you want to go ahead and do this, you can mail the flange to:

Frank McKeever
12400 Lake Valley Drive
Clermont, FL 34711

By the time we get the flange, we should be able to start manufacturing
the pipes. Just let me know!

Thanks.

Now just so we don't have another intercooler kit 'disaster' on here...
You're saying these pipes WILL work and fit PERFECTLY with his intercooler (which you are unfamiliar with as far as inlet/outlet diameters, length, placement) and his turbo (which you are also unfamiliar with as to placement and compressor clocking)?
...Just trying to save a couple headaches when something is misconstrued in a few minutes...

Different couplers and connections solve that and I don't think he said they're a perfect fit. I rather start with piping like this than from scratch.........

Good job copying speedcraft. Oh wait you didn't because those are speedcraft made intercooler pipes in those pictures. Right down to the napa gold rubber connectors and orange turboentics 2.5 to 2" reducer..

Yep. Like I said, I picked these up from Herman and took them to the shop. I never said these were the pipes WE made. Ours won't be done until the end of the week.

funny since none of those flanges are for turbochargers. they are all generic OE exhaust flanges which 99% of all exhauts shops have. weak.

And your point being? Grow up man, I don't see them saying anything about the flanges having anything to do with the turbo itself, and I've read over the topic once or twice. If you don't have anything productive to say, then just stay out of the thread please

I will send the money and flange once I get some parts sold, I have an Apex'i AVC-R and a GReddy TVVC MBC that I need to get rid of so I can purchase some more parts that I am looking for.

Sounds good man. Just let me know when you're ready. Like I was saying, we should have the pipes available for order sometime around Saturday. Thanks.

Wait - you're blatantly copying another companies design and ADVERTISING it?

Can't you take the time to run them on your own and do it properly rather than copy another company's R&D work?

That picture doesn't mean it is what you will get. You wil likely still get a box of some 90's and 45's and it will be some assembly required. lol

Not trying to start a fight or defend anyone because Cavalier Extreme/Maximum Boost was kind of a joke at first, but why does everyone keep busting this guys balls about stuff when it is obvious that he is trying to grow and improve.

Dan Pelter: You see a picture of flanges, none of them look like a "turbo flange".....this obviously means that there is no turbo flange anywhere in that garage or available to this business. Thats really the best you could come up with?

As far as copying a design, I'm sure that some company did not just hand over their i/c pipes without some kind of agreement or payment. So I am failing to see how this puts him in the wrong?

And like I said, this is not the war forum or anything goes so I'm not trying to argue, but why try to chase away someone who wants to make aftermarket parts for our cars? Offer constructive criticism and help this business get on the right path. It seems like he is pretty open to suggestions, so make them rather than being sarcastic and sh*tty.

Let me put it this way, the R&D that goes into turbo kits is EXPENSIVE. A company wouldn't let some start-up like this company have their stuff to COPY for anything less than a small fortune. ESPECIALLY when that company is SPEEDCRAFT.

I'll lay you a 10-1 bet he simply got his hands on an old kit, nabbed the piping and is going to just full-out copy it instead of developing his own products.

And why not. It's not like makes the manifolds, or anthing, really.

Not that I care about who makes the manifolds, but copying another company is DESPICABLE.

For as bad as Brian @ Exploited racing is and was, at LEAST he developed his OWN products. He just had terrible customer service.

This is just becoming a joke.

my question is how do you just produce a intercooler pipe kit for the cav. its not boosted from the factory, not every turbo manifold and turbo setup is the same, some of the compressor is toward the driver some toward the pass. side of the car, and then do you have a certain intercooler size you recomend, i just see its hard to just produce a intercooler pipe kit only.
