It all depends on the person, how much they drive, how much they want to spend on a kit, gains your looking for, how much they are willing to spend on maintenance, if they are looking for consistency etc.

Cheaper isn't what you should aim for....it should be the above to make your decision, not the price.

if i think about it a turbo car is going to require alot more maintance, i have had a couple that i built.. but this is one thing to keep in mind "you get what you pay for" first car.. 240sx spent around 500 total! but this is what i had, starion turbo"junk", @!#$ azz mani"junk", msd inline pump"$130", stock jdm sidemount"sweet", bosch bov"junk", some cheap gauges, pvc charge pipes.. yada yada yada.. it got me a 15.2 on 6 lbs, and a broken car 1 month later.. but yeah back to the sc or turbo.. never owned a sc'ed car but drove a couple there fun.. i myself like turbo's more for a couple resons more eficant, easer to upgrade change boost leves extra... and they make cool noises!.. but yeah just do what sutes you and don't be cheap..

hey bud, i have a 96 z24 with the rsm stage 1 kit, dont get me wrong i love nothing more that the wine of my vortech unit under the hood but here is my opinion on what u want from my past 3 years of experience with my j-body project which is boosted by a vortech centrifugal V9G Trim Supercharger, front mount intercooler, running 9 psi.... if you want something thats wines like no other and can still make good power with the right combinations go with a supercharger "will be more expensive to make as much power". if you want to go fast for less money and make much more power efficiently, go with a turbo "do remember more maintenence is required but is cheaper to make more power". however, do your homework first, ur running stock internals, i would not recomend going over the fallowing boost levels: if you have it tuned ok, roughy 4-6 lbs., if it is fully tuned by a wideband and using good fuel promoters, 6-8 lbs. but in the end, remember, tuning is the key success to ANY forced induction engine. some tips, spend more money on good fuel accessories such as intake pumps instead of inline, upgraded fuel injectors rather than fmu's, and adjustable fuel regulators are always a good idea... and last but certainly not least, a wideband o2 system. best thing i ever bought after being boosted for 2 years now. you would be amazed how much more power and efficiency you can make with proper tuning. just some of my thoughts bud, best of luck to you.
