I was just into my friendly neighbourhood gm dealer. The mechanic said that they put one on a cobalt ls a few weeks ago and the car was dynoed after. it had 238hp and 247tq
that was with no other work done.
Just thought everyone would like to know.
what about price ?
15.891 @ 88 mph stock, still getting @!#$ty launches...
4500 for parts...with a discount...thats what they quoted me....Canadian BTW.
the mechanic said he would install it in about 8 hrs. so like $800. but he would install it for less after work.
I'd install it yourself.....

So does this mean it is actually out now? Garaunteed if I go to my local dealer they'll just be like, HUBBUH???
They're all kinda slow up top if ya know what I mean.
what did they do for fuel ??
cause the kit and reflashes arent out yet
and im assuming they used the parts dept to get each piece
im going to have to call bs on that #
1989 Turbo Trans Am #82, 2007 Cobalt SS G85
I cant exactly do it my self...I don't have a garage
...other than that I would.
I don't know what they did for the reflash. But seeing as how they have all the programming eqequipmentight on hand at the dealership garage...
I am assuming that GM engineering reps were there as it is a gm performance parts car for local shows. They prprobablyust wrote a new program for the pcm.
The kit apparently has been out in caCanadaor the last 3 or 4 months (what the parts dept told me). We don't have to go through all the emission regulations up here maybe thats the reason. Hell I don't even need to have a cat on my car.

a stock ss puts down between 195-210whp from what people have seen.
theres no way they got 238hp and 247tq with no other work done. that would make a base cobalt cheaper then the SS.
I'm just telling what the mechanic at gm told me and my buddie today. He said that it gains about 60% with the s/c kit...its 11 pis boost (GM says 2.2 will hit 250 whp at 12 psi).
The 2.0 is de-tuned BTW and they also "claim" that its 205 crank hp so if GM "claims" a 40-50 % increase in power for the s/c kit...you can be sure its more.
and why wouldn't it be cheaper its cheaper to buy an 2.0 after (3815.00USD) and put it in than buy the ss s/c anyway. You just don't get all the other crap that don't make you go faster.
don't believe it?

try here.
the crate 2.0 s/c is out
but the s/c kit by itself isnt out yet
the 2.0s/c makes 205 hp on 87octane , it makes more power on higher octane
and unless they are the 1's that built the 2.0 s/c for that tuner show , i dont see how its possible that they did it , unless they converted the car over to the 2.0 sc ss cobalt
damn this s/c is looking more and more interesting
15.891 @ 88 mph stock, still getting @!#$ty launches...
I think it was this time last year I was thinking to myself, "shouldn't it be out by now?" What were the guys at the bash saying, 3 months until its out?
No they put the s/c kit on the 2.2. We, here in Canada, can get the kit. There are no emission laws here. No road side checks. Nothing. The reason you guys cant get it yet is prob. CA.
By the calculations of desktop dyno, a stock 2.0 without a s/c on it will make between 125 and 130 hp and tq. Now if it makes 205 on 87 octane thats an increase of 60%. the kit for the 2.2 is exactly the same s/c and manifold minus the intercooler. so say it gives 50% for the drop of the intercooler. thats 217 hp. With the engineers there they could have done a reflash and gotten 250 at the crank in no time. 250 crank is approx 238whp.
As for torque...I have said it before, we have a longer stroke than the 2.0. longer stroke equals more torque.

if the kit was out in canada , people here in the states would be getting and having it shipped to the US
and there is a few states in the US that dont have emissions either
airtonics is running the M62 on a 2.2 eco whats he putting down? I would wager a guess of about 220. All he has(says he has anyway) is the s/c. and only 10psi. GM kit is set between 11 and 12.
Would you be able to run the 2.0 SC manifold on the 2.2? Not sure of the cost or if it could even be ordered but if you can then I would think you could get the SC with that manifold instead of the non-intercooled? Just a thought and I know I would like to have the intercooled manifold myself.
Thought I read somewhere on here that it was going to come with that anyway? The older post about the 2.2 Eco charger had I think? I think Nytemare was the one in there saying it wasn't going to have that manifold too. Is this for sure or will we have to wait and see?
Thanks
Eh...old man with a Corvette now...it was bound to happen sooner rather than later right?
I,m happy to hear that the emissions laws in Canada have been done away with.Damn we spent all that money on emissions training and test equipment at work, Funny how my car came with all the same emissions equipment as a 49 state car in the US.But may be you live in a part of the country that has no emission standards even for
.
Thats Him Officer The WICKED One.
Can someone clear this up for me? The 2.2 kit will come without the intercooler, but can the intercooler just be purchased separate and added on?
Thanks,

Why? The 2.0 S/c has been dynoed at 195 whp, and the 2.2 has higher static compression and more displacement. 200 cc's might not amount to much all motor, but when you give 12 psi of boost another 200 cc to fill, it can make a big difference. As long as it had a good tune i believe the number but i don't see how the kit is out in Canada if none of the other canucks on here have reported it.... Although its possible that GM reps brought one of the first kits off the line there for testing, but who knows....
