Fuel Presure regulator

call me retarded if you want, but is a fuel pressure regulator needed? i figured the computer in the car should be able to adapt to the motors needs, i planned on throwing 3800 injectors in if it will work since all injectors are standard Bosch design usually, planning on running 5-6 lbs non inter-cooled with stock fuel pump. figured you guys would know. Ive heard about people regulating oil to the turbo, mines just oil cooled should i have to do that, is there a certain pressure needed? thats all i need for now, thanks. 2.2 ohv

well, first, even though it fits, doesn't mean it will work. Injectors can be low impedence, or high impedence. If you put the wrong ones in, it will fry the car's computer, sometimes. Also, if your 2.2 ohv is 95-97, there are no after market injectors that flow more, and have been reliable. Venom has made some. If you have the 2200 engine, then ya, those injectors might fit. I'd check around, and search to forum to see what type of injectors you have (low or high impedence) and find out what the 3800 injectors are before you put them in. Also, if you add larger injectors, the car might run like crap is there's no extra air to go with it. Also, if that air is from a turbo, at the least, you need a FMU (fuel management unit) and that raises the fuel pressure, and the boost from the turbo increases. so that as the extra air from the turbo comes in, extra fuel will also come in. This keeps the motor from going kaboom. Also, at idle, with big injectors, if the fuel pressure isn't lowered from what it normally is, idle will be running with too much fuel (running rich). The cartech FMU is suppose to be able to adjust idle pressure, and it is an FMU, so i'd recommend that.

The oil restrictor for the feed line to the turbo is what some people use to keep the seals in the turbo from blowing, since the oil pressure from the engine does get high sometimes. There's a thread, that if you search for, has a link to where you can buy one.
I hope all of that info helps. Good luck.
