boosted eco 2.2 comp ratio quandry

Hi Guys,

I've noticed there are a fair number of people with boosted 2.2 ecotecs running the standard 10:1 compression ratio. Is there any danger associated with this - pre-ignition being my biggest concern?

Ta, Paul.

If set-up correctly No. Keep in mind anytime you do any performance mods to any car, motor, there is always a chance you could mess soemthing up.

Is there anything in specific that you have to be careful with regarding this high static compression ratio and boost?

I understand that reducing compression allows for more fuel and air to be run without detonation; can retarding the timing achieve the same result safely?

Cheers, Paul.

You can retard the timing to help, but that raises EGT's. I would suggest doing research on here. There is plenty of people running the ecotecs with boost. As long as you set-up with plenty of fuel, look for knock retard (which it appears the ecotec does not create knock as easy as the 2.4's.

These are the ones i've got 8.9:1 for the price it was better for me to just go this route, i needed forged internals anyway. No headaches and no worries, check into them.
