i have a 96 2.4 5-speed trans and it is basicly gone now and i am no transmission person. i cant even shift into 4th. i had a few questions. what trans do i have for one and i want to do the 3rd and 4th gear swap from the 2.2 into mine but does it have to be the same year transmission? what else do i need besides the gears if anything, and what is the 2.2 trans called? and does anyone have any of those gears for sale or know where i can get them? thanks
I may have yet another set of 2.2 gears available.
The geo tranny I got has the wrong 1st gear so I am picking up another set from a friend. I can sell you the 3rd and 4th gears from that, they are the same as the 2.2. gears.

buy a tranny from a geo storm and swap the differential as well.
Call Marshall's Autoparts, they are overstocked in SOHC geo storm trannies and have them listed at car-part.com for $39.95. I got a DOHC one with the 4.117 FDR last year for $60 +$75 shipping. Dirt cheap if you ask me.
If only I could get a 2.4L cavvy 5-speed for that much.

haha, that is exactly where I got my SOHC trans. 39.95 and 65 ship. :p
what is wierd is the FD is 3.83 but first gear is 3.909, like the DOHC, not 3.727 like the SOHC supposedly is.
I have adler checking out his SOHC tranny to see what is in it.
Man I need that tall 1st gear.... what a pisser.

Yeah 39.95 is unreal. I am still waiting for the day the 95-99 cavalier 2.4L isuzu is 39.95. I want another one still, but they are too expensive right now for me to justify having a spare.
