Ok I need help with my clutch, im installing my new spec clutch and have never done one on a j before... let alone a frt. wheel drive vehicle... last one i did was a few years back on a 90 chevy full size truck... yeah a lil different.. lol
so if anyone that has done this clutch install before on a 2200 with the getreg trans and could give a few pointers and what to watch out for etc., hell even a step by step would be great if you are feeling up to it... lol
thanks again

remove axles, shift cables, intake tube (for access from the top), and the clutch fluid lines. Then remove the bolts and drop the tranny out. You may need to loosen the subframe for clearance to drop it out the bottom. Then unbolt the clutch. Loosen each of the 6 bolts a little at a time to evenly release the tension of the pressure plate and then it should come off and the clutch disc should come with it. Then unbolt the flywheel and have it resurfaced...or install a new one.
Put the flywheel on and thoroughly clean the surface along with the surface of the pressure plate. Use a clutch alignment tool (comes with the clutch) to keep the disc centered and bolt the new pressure plate on.
Swap the slave cylinders on the tranny, and put the tranny back on and re-connect everything.
Finally, bleed the clutch.
not too hard, but it definitely helps to have someone else help lift the tranny back in and to bleed the clutch fluid.

install a new salve cylinder while you have the trans out
see ya!
Do some measurements as well and make sure your PP is not jacked up. Probably isn't but make sure when bolted onto the car that the teeth will hit the throw out bearing. It's simple measuring and could save you a @!#$ load of money if something is f'd up.

I only have a lil over 16,000 miles on the car.. my stock clutch is still ok but i wanted to upgrade so i got the spec.
with only 16,000 on the car do you think i should really replace the slave cylinder while im at it?
also am i better off getting a new o.e.m. replacement flywheel or resurfacing mine.. (when i do my boosted eco swap next winter i will get a light weight flywheel)
if its not a stepped flywheel i can resurface it my self at the shop on our lathe but if its stepped then our lathe wont work.
so does anyone know if its a stepped flywheel or not? i dont want to have to find out when the car is tore apart. lol
thanks again everyone!

i don't think so. you are gonna have something to hold the motor up, right?
all he needs to hold the motor up is a jack and a 2"x4". The wood block will keep the jack pressure distributed evenly, and prevent the oil pan from being destroyed by the jack. I've done it many times with no problems.
Did you get the clutch installed? Sorry I couldn't help y ou on the flywheel thing.
