I need a new Cv shaft for driver side. was wondering if i can get some info on how hard it is to change. i got the service manual, but maybe some ppl that did it b4 can give me some pointers.

They are pretty easy but be prepared to either save the Gm synchromesh tranny fluid(will drain out when the shaft is pulled) or buy new stuff to put in. Its very expensive, I think like 14 or 20 dollars a bottle and you may need 2 or 3(has to be bought at the gm dealership as far as I know). Be carefull with the shaft seal on the tranny, one ding or dent and you will be leaking the very expensive fluid and can ruin your synchros if it is let go. I drove around last summer with little or no fluid and my 2nd and 3rd gear synchros are crappin out.

What exactly do u mean the shaft seal. and what do i need to get the shaft out of the tranny? just pull real hard or what? i think i shoud change my tranny fluid now anyway. also is there any special tools im gonna need?

There is a seal where the shaft gos in the tranny(it keeps the synchromesh fluid from leaking), it wont need to come out or be touched as long as you dont hurt it. I think i may have pulled my shaft out or possibly used a pry bar to gently pry against something. I believe the only odd tool you may need is a large socket to get the nut off on the end of the axle, I think I used a socket just a little over an inch cause I didnt have a metric socket that big. Maybe like a 23 or 24mm soclet, not to sure.
