Fluid capacity for a 2000+ getrag?
Sunday, June 26, 2005 6:36 PM
I'm at 95,000 on my 01 cav and my tranny fluid is looking pretty darn cooked. I'm looking to put some mobil 1 ATF in the trans and i know how to drain and fill the trans, but i just cant find anything about the fluid capacity for the getrag trans.

Any help?

1.75 ltrs is what the dealer told me. I'm also using Mobil 1 synth, the shifting is a lot smoother for sure.

Dark blue 2002 Z24, 2.4 Ltr.

Use 2 full quarts, won't hurt anything, shifts smooth as can be (and can help with the "Getrag growl"), and you won't have a bottle with 4 ounces of fluid sitting in the garage wasting space.

I also used 2 full quarts as well. I recommend B&M trick shift ATF.

I have tried 3 different types of fluid, Mobile 1 syn. Valvoline Syn, and another standard ATF. All of them gave me growl on 2 quarts. I recently switched to Hurst ATF and its almost completely gone. So it appears to have been the ticket for mine.

I'm currently using Hurst right now, but I like the B&M over Hurst. I will be swithcing back to B&M.

Amsoil, Royal Purple, and Redline MTL are all great aftermarket oils. The manufacturers all claim that you will help extend the syncro life. I've been running the Redline MTL for about 60,000 miles and it always empties out clean no gear noise, not even in reverse. Any of the higher quality standard oils like Mobile are great products too.
