I currently have a 1996 Cavalier 2.2l OHV, with stock 4 speed automatic transmission. I have done some upgrades to my engine...
-Stage 2 Cam
-Full Port and Polish with 3 angle mill.
-Wisco Forged Pistons (Dropped Compression to 8:1... will be installing turbo next year)
-1.6:1 Magnum Roller Rockers
-Chromemoly Steel Retainers
-Shims
-Lash-caps
-Valve Locks
-Clevite 77 Main, Rod, and Cam Bearings.
Last night I was driving and i could smell my transmission and it smells like it's burning and when I switch my transmission from Park to Drive or Reverse to Drive or Drive to Reverse I could hear grinding noises. It still shifts properly and is drivable but I'd rather not get stuck somewhere and I want to switch to a 5 speed manual transmission.
Which transmission is best for racing for these 96' 2.2l Cavs?
Where can I get this work completed and done well?
I want to have a super well built transmission for when my turbo is going to be Dropped in. I'd rather pay to have it done right then have to rebuild again when the turbo is installed.
Keep in mind I'd like to swap from 4 speed automatic to 5 speed manual, beefed up so there will be less/no problems when i install my turbo.
I would like to thanks in advance for any serious advice that is supplied for me
