Ya, I've decided to buy the auto interceptor over the b&m shift plus, mainly because my dad doesnt want me to mess with the tranny, he says by turning up the line pressure im going to blow the seal, so first off, is he right? and second, my plan is to buy it and then every friday wen i go out, install it for the night, and then the next morning take it off, pretty sneaky huh?...well if i install it and uninstall it is this a bad idea to have to reset everything all the time? alot of ppl said that it turns on lights too? is it ok to run it with the lights on? and if i take it off the next morning and plug in the stock will it reset everything back to normal automatically? i dont wanna leave any evidence, and finally...what would be a good setting for a 2000 2.2 cavalier? Sorry bout all the questions but just need to no before i tear sumthing up, THANKS for any help!
Make sure you have a 4 speed transmission. It dosent work on the 3 speeds.
There have been people on here that have been running both the Interceptor and ShiftPlus for years and haven't had any problems with their trannies. Your dad sounds a lot like mine did; always worried that I was going to mess something up. I always told him he was stuck in the 70's lol.
It shouldn't be a problem if you want to install it and remove it alot since it is plug and play. When you turn off the car and remove it, the line pressure will return to normal. Just make sure you get everything hooked back up right (duh)
When I had the ShiftPlus, I got the "ETS Off" light to come on when I put it the more aggressive shifting position. That was alright with me, though, since I wanted both wheels to grab lol... When I would turn the car off it would reset the lights with no ill side effects.
