I have an 2003 sunfire with an automatic tranny I need to know will it hold the power from a supercherger or a turbo and if so which would you pick
I sure hope it can hold the power from a turbo... Ill let you know this weekend.
Plenty of guys have made alot of power on the stock auto tranny.
Yea theres a bunch of guys on here running boosted engines with stock automatic transmissions.
The best thing to do is install either a B&M ShiftPlus or Autotrans Interceptor Shift kit. You can adjust the line pressure on the go, which allows you to change it depending on what you're doing.
By increasing the line pressure, everything in the trans is tightened up. So upshifts are much quicker, downshifts engage firmly, and the trans doesn't get as hot. The main reasons that autos fail are due to slippage and heat; and by eliminating excess slippage you also help keep heat to a minimum.

Our auto trannies can handle tons of power without doing anything to them. The only problem is drivetrain loss, that's why you should build it up if your doing extreme amounts of power. If your just throwing on some boost and that's it, you'll be fine.
Like wesman said, get yourself an autotrans interceptor for now.

They were custom made by an org member. Very expensive.

I read somewhere that our trans can hold up to 230hp without doing anything to it. Is that true?
