Questions...
When I removed the flex plate (auto) from my 2.4L... I saved the 6 bolts that held it to the crank.. Do I need to get new longer bolts for the flywheel? Or can I reuse the auto bolts? Apparently 2nd gens can’t use the same bolts, according to Adam aka CrazyCanadian (my tranny expert). He said someone stripped out the crank doing this. He didn’t know if it was the same for 3rd gens.
Also, do I need to re-use the little metal ring (centering ring?) that came off the flex plate?
I got a SPEC stage 2 clutch.. Came with a new slave cylinder. There’s six (?) bolts that hold the clutch to the flywheel.. Do I need to use bolts of any particular spec? I only have the three bolts that held the torque converter to the flex plate, so those are useless.
When I go to bolt the engine and tranny together.. Can I re-use the auto bolts? Or am I going to run into issues?
Thanks guys

Ah well.. here's the answers...
Different bolts for the flywheel... they're longer.
No metal ring.
Clutch bolts have a lock washer on them.
Found a thread with the bolts for the tranny to block...
http://www.j-body.org/forums/read.php?f=41&i=18441&t=18441.. Looks like I can't reuse the auto bolts properly... since there aren't as many studs on the auto's... bah.
Tomorrow... hardware store!!

N/m... I used the stock auto bellhousing bolts... worked fine. Engine & tranny are together now... although they're sitting on the ground under the car. Tonight, I'll hoist it into place...
I scored all the bolts from a 5-speed donor engine... thanks Gus

No time
sorry man..
One thing I can tell you... which no one told me.... GRIND OUT THE AUTO TRANNY MOUNT first.
Mine got in the way of the tranny case... trying to grind it out of there with the tranny in (cuz the hoist had already been returned) was a MAJOR pain in the arse.

im trying to decide if i wanna do this swap in a few weeks, only thing im unsure of at the moment is the mount, ive heard both that you need to cut off the old body mount and weld on a new one, and also that it just unbolts and the new one bolts inplace. I know my 4spd mount unbolts from the body, but do the bolt holes line up for the 5spd?
No, you have to weld in new brackets. They bolt up to the brackets.. but they're totally different between 5 speed and auto.
Auto has one plate... four bolts. 5 speed has two brackets, one bolt thru each, three bolts thru each mount to the tranny case.
