the B&M shifter is the best mod you can add to an auto tranny. some people have recorded gains as much as .3 seconds at the track.
it basically sends instant signals to the tranny, allowing shifts that are perfect every time and as fast as a manual. for 50$ shipped i would recommend this from anyone. and make sure you get it from gravana, like in the link you posted above.
and P.S., make sure you have an auto tranny

i had a b&m shift plus, crap imo it would shift harder but didn't realy help i could still feel my trany slip between shifts. i got an autotrans interceptor and it is waaaaaaay better no more slipping and its nice and firm. doesn't just slam into gear. the b&m just felt like it was gonna break something not realy doing any good
on that note i have a b&m i used for about a week forsale

I've got it in mine and on stage one there is NO slip (stage 2 'slams' it into gear, but is not meant for daily driving) and this is on a 10 year old tranny.
they prollie dont have it installed correctly. if your transmission is slipping then your transmission is going bad. it states on most sites and even on here to not install b&m unless your tranny is in good working order. it only works when your transmission is good.

its not cause it was installed wrong it worked fine it was cause all the power im trying to put through it
It shifted real hard, just not as good as the intercepter, without it the trany would slip baaaad, with the b&m it sliped a little and the intercepter totaly eliminated the sliping, it doesn't slam it into gear its just nice and firm. and my car only has about 30k miles on it, the trany is not going on it
on a fairly stock car it would probably work awsome i just didn't like it...

It does work but not good enough IMO. You have what you pay for. Mine is stock and it shift a bit faster, the needle drop faster but no tire spin like people said and I've try it in pourring rain so I'm not satisfy. I would have been better buying a set of secret cams than the shift plus.

Yeah, Derek. Stage 1 is meant for 2000-3000RPM Stage 2 is meant for upwards of 5500.
I assume you drive a lot between 3000 and 5500

Mine is stock on setting #2 even tough the switch is off and I even tried to cut the wire without any result.

That means you fudged up the install.
Double check the tutorial to make SURE your using the right wires, there are two white and blue ones so watch out.
AND, make sure you push the plug for the ECU back in until it clicks, then push it in harder. I had the same problem your having and it was that I didn't have the wires hooked up right, and then I got CELs because my plug was not in.

agreed. i installed mine and it was the best 50$ mod ive done to my car. setting 2 drops it hard, no slipping.
i have chirped the tires in 2nd and 3rd gears before, and thats with a tight suspension and falken tires.

i know it was installed right it shifted harder but didn't work near as good as the interceptor.
and there is no way you chirp your tires in 2nd and 3rd on your stock cavalier, its probably the sound of your trany dying. there is no way in hell mine can even do that and im turbo'd.
i know what im doing i can hook up 2 wires for the b&m, it just doesn't work as good (especialy with alot of power) im giving my honest opinion, from someone who had both installed on my car and i can say the interceptor is worth the extra money.....
I found a site where someone ohmed out the shift plus and told the readings. I went to readioshack bought a could resitors for a few bucks and made my own. Now at half throttle I can chirp second gear. I like it alot.

i agree man, mine would chirp in second. and I'm gettting CEL code P0717 Input speed sensor no singal or something. And since the installation of the B&M My transmission has been having delayed shifts. If anyone has diagrams of the 4T40E trannys let me know, id like to see if i can replace that sensor
