Besides the Yank Stall Converter , where do you get other aftermarket components for the auto trans? I know they make redline clutch packs and you can cryo your gears and what not but what about the bands , pump , and other things of that nature? Any help would be much appreciated. I am in desparate need of a rebuild. My auto trans is shot to the point where it slips in first second and third gear. Then when I turn on my interceptor the whole car shutters and shifts eratically.

New clutch packs or bands. That's mostly what you need. Maybe a new pump if the old one is worn. New bearings and seals. Clean it out good.

emailed them and they told me everything in their trans is a secret and the only way they would help me is for me to send them my trans. All the way from Chicago to Cali. lol uh huh ok Anybody else? I know someone on here knows about what is inside this trans.

Change your rear end ratio. 4T60 should fit and they have different ratios in them.

rear end ratio? Nothing out of the 4t65 will fit into the 4t40e trans. The tourque converter may fit but nothing internally. I just picked up a fully rebuilt 4t40e off of ebay for 500.00 it has 4t45e clutch packs in it which are suppose to be stronger. I also have my yank 2800 converter sitting here waiting to go in and am geting a limited slip differential but can't decide which on yet. lemme go get my camera and i will post some pics of what is going in next week.

any info on the redline clutch packs? i emailed a company that makes aftermarket transmission parts recently, and they said the only upgrade they had for the 4t40e was 4t65 stainless clutch packs??? i didnt think they'd fit.
honestly if you went with some OEM clutches and a shift kit and/or other way to increase line pressure and shift quickness clutches would be taken care of. definitely get a better converter and i would say upgrade the pump jsut to be sure cause running out of fluid is very bad of course. otherwise if youd want you could always cryo treat all the hard parts in the tranny so nothing stripped but mainly i think the tranny is pretty strong considering. oh and yes the LSD would be needed for higher HP just for traction reasons. the only other tranny parts that can be put in ours are ones from a 4T45E. and jsut remembered a cooler is definitely needed dump the factory one and just get another one.
Man there was just a post about this the other day that was towards the top that had a lot of info.
Someone needs to get all of the info on how to get an Auto Trans to hold High HP and make a good post and it needs to get stickied at the top of the page.
yeah that was an old post brought back from the dead, i've read it several times. i was just curious as to where i could find better clutch packs, because i don't want to have to build the trans a second time :-)
and about upgrading the pump i dunno how you could do that. dragracemyz24 said you could put a bigger machine boss on the pumpshaft, but i guess that's it.

I will be waiting also. I hardly ever come to this Transmission Forum but I got this bug to Turbo my car now and I know I am going to have to beef up the tanny.
you could just buy my car when its done. Check classifieds. Don't know if I am gonna go with the LSD or not. Its pretty darn pricey. Especially since I am selling it

what is the price on that LSD?
domestic performance has it for close to 700.00. I cannot bring myself to spend that much. I am just going to use the yank converter with the 4t45e clutch packs and the new pump shaft design. Why spend an extra 700.00 on it if I am going to sell it now anyways. It will never be a selling point and it will not bring much more money to the vehicle value.
