new clutch
Thursday, August 11, 2005 3:31 PM
so at 54000 miles, im considering doing my clutch (not for another 10k though). today i drove a coworker and his wife to the airport (in a hurry mind you) and when i let out the clutch into 2nd gear, it wouldnt grab at all. same for third.

now, later today, i went tearing around town by myself, and had no problems with the clutch slipping, so for right now its only when i have a heavy load (which i rarely have) and are shifting hard and high.

im thinking of a spec stage 2. any other recommendations? also, what is a good flywheel to go with? i'd like mantaparts because of its weight, but i dont wanna get screwed over by them. most of the other clutches are too light for my taste (8-10lbs).

recommendations anybody? for clutch, flywheel. also, what other parts would i need?

just resurface the stock flywheel if you are bolt on's only.
Most people agree spec is the way to go. But there are other clutches out there.

i may not be able to resurface the flywheel. since me and my brother will be doing it, it will be on a weekend. its kinda hard to find a shop to resurface it at a moments notice. if i do end up getting a new flywheel, any opinion?

I think you only option is SPEC unless clutch Masters has released their clutch for the getrag. SPEC is pretty good a stage will be adequate unless you are planning on high HP on your car. SPEC or FIdanza flywheel are really the only two choices you have and i think RKsport flywheel is Fidanza.

the stage 2 is horrible and the 3 is even worse, if you want the extra grip and a stock feel get the stage I, I have it with a boosted car and theres no slip at all
