i drive a 1996 sunfire gt 2.4l with an automatic transmission....anyway i bough the car a couple months back...has only 42,000 miles...and every now and then...it's happened twice in the past two months...it gets stuck in first gear....like it revs up to redline or close to it where it normally shifts and just hits the rev limiter....and i usually have to stop and put the car into reverse (dont ask me why i tried it...it was in the back of my mind from something i heard a long time ago) and it works. i work for a chevy dealership but i haven't made good enough friends with the trans people to get a good deal...so i haven't taken it to them. i think it might be a solenoid that's going out or gone. however, they're on the side of the trans and it's a b*tch to get to them. any ideas?
thanks,
chris

maybe the fluid is due to be changed?
i wish it was that easy!
i bought the car from a dealership a few months back...and it had had a tranny flush and filter put in...and when it did it the second time on me (like 4 days out of that crappy warranty dealers give you on used cars) i took it to my dealership where i work and flushed it again and put a new filter in. same thing. if i had another car to drive i'd just pull the engine/tranny and overhaul the whole thing...but i can't. not to mention i hear it's a b*tch to get to the tranny to work on it without removing it. oh well, such is life.
side note: i'm thinking about vertical/lambo doors...any thoughts?
