i have a 89 cavalier with an automatic 2.8ltr at 65mph my rpms are at 3000 or 3500rpm is there a overdrive? is this tranny a 3 spd? i just got it and the dude didnt know that much about it. there is a plug that goes into the side of the tranny that is unplugged what is it?
if it is a 3 speed that is the plug for your tcc torque converter cluctch when you hit 55 mph it is supposed to lock the clutch up and reduce you rpm's if it unplugged that means the soleniod that engages the clutch is bad , and when it is plugged in your engine will die when you pull it in gear !
mine has a 3 speed too and my soleniod dont work , i am swapping to a 4 automatic overdrive .
thanks for the info. is it hard to change the soleniod?
