power a 3t40 can handle?

So as the title says. My eventual plan is to have an engine putting out about 300hp and was wondering if the stock cv axles and 3t40 tranny will be able to handle that?

thanks

It's not actually the HP that the tranny can handle, but the torque. Torque is the actual torsional loading that is placed on the tranny, that causes damage.

Anyways, the TH125C/3T40 has been around for quite a while and used behind many different engines, upto and including the 3.3L V6's in some of the minivans and mid-sized sedans. In stock form, it's proven itself reliable in those applications. Quite a few 125's have been used behind some powerful motors, with the proper modifications, with great success. Read this for how to have you 125 built: http://www.j-body.org/forums/read.php?f=41&i=1893&t=1893&arch=1#1893.

As of this time, I haven't found any after-market axles being manufactured by any one. This doesn't mean they aren't out there, just I haven't found them, nor had the need for them. You can have them custom made though. just do some research, I'm sure you could find out who makes them. Check with Karo, from Car Customs, I understand he had a set custom made for his car.
