i have a 97 chevy cavalier , with the 4t40e transmission , i was on the interstate the other day runnin about 70 mph i heard a rumble from the passenger side when i let off the gas i thought maybe it was a cv joint i got to lookin at things and i noticed the cv joint had slipped out of the passenger side of the tranny about a 1/4 of an inch would that be my problem , when i put the tranny in it popped all the way in and would the lock ring being replaced solve , i am not sure , any suggestions ?

Cv joint shouldnt have slipped out like that. I had to knock that bitch off with a hammer when I took my tranny out. Lock ring might fix it.
