needa clutch, were do i go?
Wednesday, September 28, 2005 11:32 AM
i got a 99 sunfire with the 2.2 and i can tell my clutch isnt doin well. i know there are many clutches out there and options with them. im looking for something that is better than stock, one that holds up better and performes better. i need something to be fairly cheap or affordable, and would like ot have a complete kit. this car is my only car, so i use it daily, i take runs around town, zip up the highways, and take trips outa state too, so somethign thats good with that. was also thinking of an aluminum flywheel whilei have it all apart. i see alot on SPEC on this site and they sound good. were can i find these kits at a good price? any site or shops? i havnt been able to come up with much that specifies it fits a 2.2, only to fit a 2.3 or 2.4 so i dont know were to go. if anyone can help i will appreciate this! fidanza the only flywheel that i got to choose? or are there cheaper jsut as good ones? or shood i keep the OEM, and maybe use a new OEM clutch?

SPEC or ACT are pretty decent clutches. You can get SPEC from carcustoms.net excellent guy to deal with. If i were u a stage 2 would be good for you Flywheel is also good but mixed feelings on driveablity. I personally have flywheel and no driveablitiy issues.

i checked cc.net and like the price on that kit. i read abotu the SPEC kits on here and didnt see anything realyl bad about it. also i dealt with cc.net b4 and that guy is great. so i would go thru him again. i looked into flywheels more and found a fidanzo on ebay, comes cheaper than the SPEc one on cc.net, and ive heard the fidanza name b4, and opinions on it?

I have Fidanza but i did not get it off ebay. I would watch ebay though because Fidanza made a bad batch of Flywheel a couple years back and they are floating around ebay. There is some Speculation that SPEC is made by Fidanza but not confirmed. even Rksport may be made by them

is there a majr gain when useing a aluminum FW? i looked more into the clutches and CC.net seems to have the best deal. i jsut figured be best to do both parts while it is aparts, not that it is hard to separate the tranny in a j-body. thanx for the input so far, more is welcome

you have heard our recomendation. Why are they selling that clutch so cheap?? Something to think about. Also from the description it just sound like a stock replacement because the disk is organic. You may want to look for something that has Kevlar it will have better hold power. The organic one will be like stock. Which is basically a stage I for any clutch.
