This morning, while driving down the interstate, I tried to put it in 5th gear. It wouldn't go, I tried quite a few times, but it would never stay there. I finally gave up on it, and rode in 4th gear.

I haven't had any problems with the transmission before, although my VSS threw a code a couple of weeks ago, saying low voltage. Obviously, during that time my speedometer didn't work, but it was very temporary, and since clearing that code, the speedometer started working as normal, and I haven't had a single problem... until this morning.

Can someone tell me what I'm gonna need to prepare to change, and around how much it's gonna cost me. I'm looking to sell this car as soon as I fix this.

is it grinding? If its not check your linkages for you tranny the bolt sometimes comes off!
it happened to me before.
