Alright bare with me here. I have a 3 speed automatic in my 2.2 and yes I am running boost (around 8.5ish or so) the questions is.... I heard that those 3speeds are really relyable a far as no slippage and relyablity. is this true? the reason I'm asking the question I have always babied this car since I've had it and did trans flushes on a regular basis like every 20,000 miles or so. I think it might be starting to slip or it could be just taking a little longer to shift into gears.. It doesn't seem to be slipping out of first or anything just when I'm in boost like 3psi or greater. any suggestions??? now remember I don't beat on my at all I'm thinking that it can't handle the boost, but again from what I heard it should handle just fine.... the tranny has about 120k on it but the engine is brand crate new.
thanks in advance

You heard right. The 3T40 is pretty much indestructable. It mayjust be that your powerband is different with the boost than without (but IIRC, you've been running a turbo for a while now right?) so it may just be the new engine. If you've kept up on maintanence, it shouldn't have any problems. You could always do a pressure test on it just to make sure.
yeah I didn't think about doing a pressure test to it thanks james.. yeah I have been running boost for about 3-4 months now, but I rarly drive it only on sunny days and weekends usually.

120k on any automatic is considered borrowed time. it may last 30,000 miles it may last 300. if its slipping theres not alot you can do but rebuild it. and unfortunately the 3T40 is destructable. its meant for low power econo-boxes.
The 3T40/TH125C has been used on just about every 4 cyl and up to the 3.3L V6. It's been very durable for it's intended purpose. Event has a .
good write up on his and I've done a very similar build to mine. Just follw his build-up and you'll be good, but look into a custom torque converter, built for boosted applications.
