I recently found out that my reverse band is fcked up. Are there any reasons why this might of happen. Im trying to find out if it was something that i did, or something that it had wrong. I took it to a local mechanic and he said that the reverse band was defictive. Anyhow, i drive a 01 ford escape.
the low/ reverse accumulator piston bore in the valve body gets worn causing blow- by or causes the piston to stick, the result is a burned band. your in for a rebuild, the band needs to be replaced and the valve needs to be reamed and fitted with a Sonnax valve. also the pressure regulator valve bore needs to reamed and updated with a new valve, if its not done, down the road that valve will also wear the bore causing hi line pressure which will break hard parts. any reputable shop is well aware of these updates and will do them as normal rebuild procedure.
