I had a tranny swap back in feb. tranny has bout 12,000 miles on it.. Now My 2.2 blew. I plan on doing the swap with a 2.4. If I do the swap do I need a new tranny also? Or the mounting position and tranny for the z24 and the base are the same?
You can not use the transmission from your 2.2 OHV on your 2.4 TC motor...different bellhousing. Just FYI, that would go for any other motor combination as well. You can only swap transmissions if they are from the same motor.

except the 2.4 and 2.3 that use the same bellhousing holes.

Argh. Everytime I say "all 3rd gens" I always forget the lonely 2.3 motors. I guess cause they were available for 1 year that I forget about them.
Thanks for the correction.

The 60degV6 bellhousing is the same as the 2.2, so you can use any 6 cyl trans as well.

Sorry, I was specifying more for 3rd gen j-body motors and transmissions.

I'm pretty sure the ECO bellhousing is different from both the LD9 and the LN2 pattern.
