Trans. Swap

I am sorry if this has been asked before, but I have tried looking. I was wondering how hard it would be to swap a manual trans into a 99 Z24 that currently has an automatic? what all whould I need? is it worth the work or am I better off looking for a Z that has a manual already?

would it be easier just to do a whole motor and tranny swap?

seeing how this thread is about a tranny swap, would it be cheaper for me to swap a 4 speed automatic tranny or a manual tranny in my 96 cavalier sedan?(by the way I have a 3 speed.)

Motor mounts are essentially the same... but transmission mounts are different.

If you're going to the trouble of dropping the drivetrain... may as well change to whatever you want while you're in the process... right?

99, if you want to go to an Ecotec, you have to re-wire the entire car. Difficult.

96, you can go to a manual trans easily... swap up to a 2.4L if you have the 2.2L, get a 96-98 kind with the 96 2.4L PCM and engine wiring harness, and you're good to go.
