boosting 4 speed auto

Hi. I own 03 cav auto I thinking of boosting it up to 300 or 350hp, but I' m not sure if the auto trans can handle that much power. So if not how much hp can it actullay handle? And is thier a aftermarket or a company that makes modified parts for the 4 speed auto trans, to handle high hp. Last thing what is the factory part number for the 4 speed auto. Is 4t4e something like that. thank you

the tranny will handle quite a bit of power before stuff breaks. Im not totally sure on how much the tranny can take....but i would suggest a aux. tranny cooler because heat is what kills these trannys the fastest.

Thanx Charles

Do what I'm doing...get a transmission cooler (which I have already installed) and you'll be fine.

and something that increases line pressure to hold the clutch packs together better.

Like the b and m shift plus. Or if you can find an auto trans interceptor.

Go on ebay, they have them there a dime a dozen. Look for Hayden Transmission coolers. They are inexpensive and effective.

i run a Hayden on my 4T40E which is the J 4spd auto. very stout tranny. my coupe's had 252,000k's on it before the torque stopped locking up. rest of the tranny was fine. its been re-built now. unfortunately there aren't really any aftermarket parts to build up a 4T40E. the internals are as good as they're gonna get from the factory. a higher stall is about all you can play with. i run an Autotrans Interceptor in it. the B&M isn't worth @!#$. its not actualy designed for the 4T40E so it doesn't work even close to what the Interceptor can do.
