SPEC Clutch recently released the Plus (+) series clutches for the Stage 2 and Stage 3 systems. These (+) series offer higher torque capacity over the standard stage of its class. For example, the stage 3 clutch for the 2.4L LD9 is rated at 340 lbs ft of torque; where as the stage 3 + is rated at 450 lbs ft of torque.
They both have the identical clutch feel within the same stage, however with the benefit of having a much higher torque rating. This is done by a hinged pressure plate that has a higher clamping force.
If anyone has any questions please let us know. We will have these new (+) series clutches added within the next couple days.
We have sold many to the Cobalt SS market and we have heard nothing but positive comments on these.

Shifted wrote:So then the only difference between a Stage 3+ and Stage 4 is the feel of the clutch?
The SPEC stage 3+ most times will hold more than the stage 4, but it is also a higher price. The stage 4 will still engage harder, as it has an unsprung hub.

Exact copy of what SPEC says about the actul clucth it self.
Quote:
Stage 3+
Features a streetable high clamp pressure plate and full face carbon semi-metallic disc. Listed as an upgrade to the stage 3, it offers torque capacities more comparable to the stage 5 but with drivability equal to, and in some cases better than, the stage 3. The high capacity and excellent drivability characteristics of this clutch is a result of years of research and development for this SPEC exclusive disc compound.
That would be SPECs description of this clutch correct. As stated before we have sold many stage 2+ and stage 3+ clutch kits to the 2.0 Ecotec owners, they just love these.

Bah, I just got my stage 3 in...
Oh well, when I kill it, in goes a stg3+ or a stg5
I wish they had that option before I bought my stage 4 for my 2.2 liter a 2 years ago. My stage 4 clutch was slipping at 305 ft lbs of torque with slicks.
