Recently I noticed my 01 sunfire gt auto makes a clunking noise when I stop at a stop sign
With the car in drive, I stop and wait a few seconds with my foot on the brake, then i hear a light clunk noise from the transmission and the rpm drops a tad....it does it quite often and i cant figure it out
any ideas
Check you lower motor mount/torque arm and/or upper motor mount, sounds like the bushings are worn out. If you like the soft cushy ride get a stock rubber replacement mount. If you drive hard, get the polyurethane mounts. The poly mounts will most likely transfer alot of vibrations and/or shake to the body, though.
bushing even when the car has been stopped for 4-5 seconds???
any other ideas....it does it in park too.
