Hey Guys
I got to ask this question can I switch the cables from a 2nd gen that haves a getrag tranny in it into a 3rd gen that haves a getrag on it? because I have a 89 getrag tranny from a cavalier and its going into my 96 sunfire and I need to know if I can switch the cables around or not

Whole different tranny and shifter.

Yeah that getrag isn't going to bolt up to your engine if you have a GT.

im dropping in a BIG 3400 into the sunfire and you got the pics of the shifters like from the 3rd gen and the 2nd gen?

The older transmissions used cables much like the 95-99 Isuzu transmissions, if its anything like the NVG trans people swap into 3rd Gens. You need to make an adapter/extension for the one cable, but they work. Search for any of the NVG trans swap posts for pics.

The 00+ Getrag cables will not work as far as I know.

or since this trans isnt going to just drop in anyway...... use the cables and shifter from the donor car.

Better off finding a set off an N-Body with a Manual Getrag, granted the only one i had ever seen was with an ecotec, might be closer to what you might need.

hey guys can somebody please post some pictures of the ends of the shifter cables from 89 2nd gen and the 3rd gen shifter cables because I might have a company that is willing to build me a custom shift cable for my 5sp swap and also I need the lengths of the 2 cables
