4t40e trans service

alright everyone.

i was just waiting for the warm weather to service my transmission

i have the 4t40e mated to my 2200 and had a question about changing the fluid.

what is the best way to go about doing this myself? i can easily purchase the kit with the gasket and the filter and such, but the 4t40e does not have a dipstick to check the level.

i have heard something about a teststrip that you can dip into the tranny to check the level, but everyone i ask about that seems to just look at me funny when i mention that.

unless i am doing a full out flush, i can not go by what is in the manual, because there will still be fluid left in the torque convertor then.

i talked to the GM dealer that sold the car today, and one of their techs mentioned a bolt on the passanger side of the tranny that you remove to check the fluid level. the problem is, the fluid level has to be checked when the transmission is at 40 degrees Celcius, which is checked with a temperture sensor that is mounted inside the transmission. i assume this temperture is either read through the OBDII scanner or a seperate plug in under or around the transmission.

now, whats my best route to go on doing this myself? is there a way i can flush the tranny that some one can tell me, because i have no idea if the fluid is forced out under pressure or sucked out, and where do i hook up the line, or is a machiene needed.
now if i just drop the pan, how do i check the fluid properly like the tech was saying?

any help, much appreciated. thanks.

Injection is nice but id rather be BLOWN!

heres two links. the first one shows a good picture a where the plug is and how to get it to the right temp and everything. the second shows fluid specs so you can get it close to full so you don't hurt anything. scroll down about half way on both of them. if you have any other questions just ask.

Duno about those links about but for anyone else.

Drop the pan let it drip.
Clean the gasket and pan good enough that you can damn near eat off it
bolt it back up
fill with 7.4 quarts and be good to go

flush=bad
dont know about the filter or if it is even replaceable ive never done it
