Is the th125 the trans that came with the 2.8/3.1? If so was the bolt pattern different with the v6 and 4? If it isn't the same would it bolt into the 3rd gen? Thanks
Thanks, I was thinkin about getting one of those 2.8 fiero v8 adaptor plates/flywheel/starter and putting a 4.3 in a cavy. A cheap 300 naturally aspirated HP. Ive been reading alot people wanting v8s in their cavy's and saying they are too long, however the 4.3 is shorter and has the same trans pattern. Plus it can be carborated so there wont be a lot of wiring.
wouldnt that envolve a lot of wiring to do the 3.8...the 4.3 could be carborated so very little wiring would be involved. I dont know much about the 3.8 are the old buick 3.8s the same as the newer ones...i think they were carborated
The FWD 3.8's have a shorter deck (read smaller & lighter) than the older RWD motors. The 3.8 external dimensions are also smaller than the 4.3, which only came as a RWD motor. A few JBOers have done the 3800 or 3800 S/C conversions. The're not an easy conversion , but can reasonably be done.

Heh, if you're gonna swap, you better get used to the wiring. Take it from me, as one who knows. If you remove the factory electronics there are things that will cease to work, or cease to work properly. So, you've gotta keep electronics in the car. Sorry.
