Went to the dragstrip for first time ever yesterday, did three runs torque braking each time. I know it heats up the fluid and strains the converter, but how bad is torque braking for my car?
I was happy when I heard my car ran 10s. Then I found out that was 0-60.
just dont FOOTBRAKE for like 30mins and you'll be fine, yes trans temps do rise quite abit but doing at the strip for the 10-15seconds before launch will not do any harm.

Well heres my take on it...
You are pre-loading the drive-train of the vehicle so there is less of a shock on all the drive train components. You are also increasing the fluid temperature, but for the little time your doing it for it will not hurt it.

It'll be fine for the few seconds that you're doing it. That's actually the official correct method for being stopped on a steep hill to get it moving. Brake + Gas then let off the brake.
If you sit and do it forever the fluid will start to get some cavitation. Think of water when it starts to boil, that's cavitation. This can, of course, make the clutches slip really bad. Not only would that destroy the trans, but it would give you a weak shift and bad times. But, for the few seconds while the staging lights are on, you're fine.
