hey guys ir ace in a mini stock division at my local track. i run a 2.2 and a 2.0 head. looking for a tranny that can get me some more rpm. it is a 3/8 mile oval and i run in 3rd gear. i have heard that the different codes on the trans mean different gearing if so does anyone have a list of what is what

The MK7 has a FDR of 3.58. That will be the same on all 2.2 cars. 2nd and 3rd gen. In the 3rd Gen, the 2.4 uses the same isuzu trans. RPO code MJ1. This has a slightly higher ratio at 3.94. You'll have the swap the gearsets though, cuz the cases are different.

The Sunbird 2.0 5spd will have a 3.45, Geo Storm GSi will have a 4.11, and the Isuzu Stylus will have a 3.83 FDR.

Or, you could get all the gear ratios around and bust out a spreadsheet or 2 and come up with some weird combination of the gearsets.
