This has been a problem for as long as I can remember, just never really addressed it or cared enough to do anything about it. But yeah, say I'm pulling a U-turn, right as i coming out of the turn and accelerate, the tranny slips out of gear for some reason and takes a second before it goes back after I straighten up. It will also do it quite often regular left hand turns.
Anyone have this problem? Solution?

check fluid level. i think on the autos there's a plug in the side you fill to that level
14.82 @ 97 mph
I have the same problem, along with another person in this forum....and my fluid is topped off....trust me, I checked it about 12 times hoping and praying that was the problem....almost sure it is the differential...it doesnt "slip out of gear", it stays in gear, its jus freewheeling somewhere. Mine is also only on left hand corners
^^ Interesting. I just asked our shop mechanic here, and he theorized that it could be a problem with the screen on the pickup tube for the fluid, and that combined with the tube being on the left side of the pan and on left hand turns the fluid being pushed to the right side of the pan, putting air in the bands. I'll try to put it up on a lift this weekend and check it out, if that isn't the problem, then I'll see if I can have a tranny flush service done on it. I'll let you know.

<3 Search button. mine is having the same problem on left turns, except it's not freewheeling. Right turns are great. but on left turn there's a grinding and a little slippage (revs up about 500rpm then back to normal, cycles through the slip phase non stop) and doesn't sort out until i let off the gas and let it shift to 3rd or 4th, going straight or right, then it's fine. Left turns are the ONLY thing it has trouble with. Kinda thought it could be CV axle or bearing going and letting the CV shaft spin a little...
Anyone get results from this or know what it is? (I know the post is 3 yrs and 3 months old..... but couldn't find an answer)

Im getting this too. Except its on the 3T40 or whatever that tranny is.
I could care less, its a beater car... Im just curious.
well i had the same problem but only when i made a sharp left and then tried to accelerator out of the turn it would act like it slipped untill my car was level and then it would be good again.
this is on a 07 chevy hhr 2.4 eco with the 4t45e trans.
found out the the passenger side cv axle was not in all the way and also i was about 3/4 qt . low on trans fluid.
i pulled the axle and reinstalled it and had a trans flush and fill and now all is good.
good luck with it.
My car was made with wrenches, Not chopsticks.
I've got the same problem in my Grand Am. Except in winter time if I come up to a stop sign and idle for a while, it will not go into gear when you hit the gas. It just hums and barely creeps ahead. I'm putting a new transmission it it tomorrow.
