Bell housings MN4 "4T40-E", MN5 "4T45-E", MN7....

I was just wondering if the bell housings of our MN4 the same bolt pattern as the MN5? or simular...

Also besides the Final gear ratios and the MN5 having a higher torque rating, what the hell is the differences between the two transmissions? Does anyone know?

On a side note, does the 4T65E-HD, MN7 share any parts with the 4T40-E, MN4?

Well.... from the looks of it, the MN5 is the 4t45 and the MN4 is the 4t40.
4t40e = J-body
4t45e = N-body, 3100/3400 (not sure if the 2.4 N-body would have it though)

If by MN4 you mean the trans for the 2.4L, then NO it doesnt have the same bellhousing pattern as the MN5. If it's for the 2.2 OHV, then yes it will.

Both trannys seem to have the same max torque. 325 ft/lbs. The Max. engine torque is the highest TQ that's made in a GM installation. The 190 ft/lbs. on the MN4, i'm going to guess maybe something with the 2.4 ECOTEC? I know the 205 ft/lbs on the MN5 would be anything with the 3400 V6.

Isn't the 2.4l 4T40E and the 2.2 OHV 4T40E the same bellhousing?
I beleive it is.

The bolt pattern is different between the 2.2 and the 2.4. Swapping bellhousings, I've never heard of it being done, but that's probably because the tranny came for both motors.

The 2.2L 4T40E will have the same bolt pattern as the 3400's 4T45E will.
