Short delay on shift into 3rd gr on A4?
Thursday, June 29, 2006 5:43 AM
Ok, it is kinda hard to explain. I have a 00 Z24 auto, when I take off, it shifts fine in 1st & 2nd. When it goes into 3rd, you can feel it shift, then about 1 second later, you can feel it actually go into gear & take back off. It might not even be a full second. It don't do this in any other gear but 3rd? Any opinions on what might cause this? I had the fluid changed yest with a full flush haven't noticed it as bad now. Could it maybe be the torque converter or something?
Thanks for the help!

If it got better after having the trans flushed, I'd take a guess at it being a problem in the valve body. It's not putting pressure on the 3rd gear clutches right.

Honestly, i'd keep an eye on it. If it gets worse, you'll probably be looking into a rebuild.

most likely just shift overlap, shouldnt take a full second or anything like that but these transmissions have some pretty horrible shift overlap.

Well I drove it again today & it seems to be much better now w/ the new fluid in it! Is the shift overlap anything to worry about? it seems to be better now at least!
