that second link is wrong, i am looking for what i saw last night i cant find it... but it looked almost like a cpu heat sink and worked the same way (placed over the hot object, tranny in this case...)

You want the first style, the kind that looks like a small radiator.
The "CPU heatsink" style oil cooler is strictly for applications where installing the first type isn't feasible.
In your case, it is feasible. This is a very simple modification that will drastically increase the life of your transmission.
You should shop around, however, as the prices for the ones you posted are way too high. I didn't pay attention to what sizes they were, but the B&M name and anodized aluminum plumbing fixtures don't make up for those prices. Or, they're too expensive because they're way too big for what you need.
Check your local auto parts stores, Summit Racing, or maybe even different options on Jegs.
Somewhere between $50 - $75 would be more reasonable.

well the first one, he can not use since it is for a TH350 and a TH400. Jegs does have smaller ones that will fit into our pans, just have to look a little harder. But the price for those are actually not to bad for the size. I had one in my TH400 that was on my 69 and I paid about $20 more than that.

I saw the cheaper ones and i thought it was to good to be true, lol... i felt like i was cheaping out on my tranny, and i dont want anything to happen to it so i went with the name brand, expensive one!! nice to hear i can calm down the price a little, lol...
i wanted one that had the fan on it, but... would that be over kill? or is it the cooler the better?
side question: what other techniques are used to increase the life of the 4spd auto tranny other then a cooler?
