OK went to to start my car the other day, put my foot on the brake to go in reverse and i had no gears, none at all. Thinkin it might be the shifter cables i took out the center console n followed the shifter cables traced the one but cant figure out where the other one goes. ANy ideas on what could be the problem?
Maybe an electrical problem. Check the big plug that plugs into the front or your transmission.

Likely the shifter cable, unless you have a bunch of warning lights going on the dash
There's two cables... the one on the driver's side of the shifter is the brake interlock. It doesn't affect that. You want to check the passenger side one... it goes from the shifter to the passenger foot well, thru the firewall, under the exhaust manifold to the transmission case. If you have a header and it's touching it, it can burn thru the sleeve and wreck the cable pretty quick. Also check where it attaches to the shifter assembly on the transmission case, at the top (it's got a long accordian-like black boot on it)
