ok whats the best clutch and flywheel combo for the eco if i do daily driving and also autox? i am getting ready to change mine and would like ot hear some recomenditations on this....
well i have a fidanza 9 lb and a stage 2 spec clutch and pressure plate and i love mine. this is also my daily driver.
But mine is a 2.4l ld9
i heard good things about ppl using a 8 lb in the ecotecs
Thanks,
Paul
Fidanza flywheel and SPEC stage 3
i have it on the skwirl, and I love it
you have to get used to it tho because a grippier clutch on a lighter flywheel = an easier to stall engine
but rev matching is so much easier since the engine revs up faster, and you'll put more power to the ground since the flywheel weighs less and if you modify the engine at all, the clutch will never even breathe heavy to hold the power (you're trying to stay in your SCCA class i'd assume so major engine modification is out of the question)
if you do boost or spray the car however, the stage 3 will hold without a problem
very nice guys thanks for all the info... what about a stage 2 will it do fine wiht boost? i think i am eventially going gm supercharger. but will the stage 2 hold up?
for stock i dont see why not........... but anything with a built motor its only gonna hold about 300lbs of tq. generally the stronger the clutch the better is gonna last. plus spec has 15% off there stage 3+ clutches
see the problem is i want to get it soon and i am going to eventially do some boost but more like a few years but i am in need of a clutch some time very soon so what would you recomend?
on my 2.4 sc i went with the spec stage 3 and aluminum flywheel. seems to be working fine, heck of a lot of fun to drive too.
14.82 @ 97 mph
ok now that i now which to get (stage 2 plus the fandanza flywheel) where is the cheapiest place you guys have found ot purchase them from? thanks guys....
We have the Fidanza flywheel at a very low price for the 2.2 ecotec.. only 1 left and the price will increase about $40...
I would also say the stage 2 + is the clutch you would be looking for.

I will also say go with spec. I'm going to say stage 2. I just installed a steg 2 and flywheel on my Z24. Great parts. I have also installed a steg 3 and another stage 2 on 2 other Z24's in the past. The stage 3 has alot of wear (it was on a all motor car and daily driven). The stage 2 is also oon a all motor car and daily driven, and is doing great. If it is going to be a couple years before you go boost then the stage 3 will not last that long (even the stage 2 might not). Stage 2 is more smooth over the stage 3 as well (not saying the stage 3 can't be daily driven, just 2 is more smooth). I weight my flywheel and 8lbs for the 2.4. I have a Ecotec set-up that I will weight but I think it is 8lbs as well. I got my stuf from Karo he gave me a good deal. I was able to get my clutch flywheel, and TG LSD for all under $1000.00.
