auto/manual swap wire bypass's?
Wednesday, September 27, 2006 7:54 AM
here it is , my yearly question , went thru another engine and built another one ... figured while i was doing this i might as well go all the way and the the tranny as well, i believe the tranny i have is probably the isuzu 5 speed <was givin to me and i dont know how to tell the manuals apart> but my questions is <this one in regard to what a pro performance tech told me which may or may not be true , still gotta research it a bit> is if i keep the auto pcm how would i go about bypassing the nss , is it positive or grounded and which wire is it leading into the tranny, < was told i would get a slight increase in power due to the fact the pcm is tuned more for the auto so the auto vs manual so that they both dyno the same at the wheel < will accept objections> and how do i bypass the clutch switches , i do have everything i need including the pcm and the wiring harness's for the engine bay , but i did not even think to grab the interior wiring harness , dont have the floor switch , just the switch on the clutch bracket itself , .............any suggestions welcome

The Auto PCM will have no different tuning than the 5spd. Only difference would be auto trans controls for the 4spd. I dont know if the 3spd ECU would even be affected by not having an auto trans.

For the NSS, I dont see why you couldnt just wire that to the clutch switch. Wouldnt be hard.

Actually... come to think of it.

The clutch switch isnt on the engine harness anyways. I dont have a factory ECM. The clutch switch goes to the interior harness. Cuz i did nothing under the hood as far as that goes. And the starter will not run, unless my foot is on the clutch.

yeah the starter will not engage because of the nuetral safety switch , the nss acts as a safe guard not allowing the engine to start unless the circuit is open or closed , but the question is , is it an open or closed circuit , does it need to have a 12v lead or be grounded in order for the nss to be engaged , the nss switch is the switch is in the interior of the car if im correct ... but i need to figure out how to bypass it ....and as for the comp ill just swap them out , but i just need to figure out how to bypass everything else if i do go that route

its a slow process but its coming along
