I'm replacing a clutch for a friend in a 95' with a 2.2 5spd. I remember doing one 3-4 years ago and I thought I remember reading that the hydraulic throw-out bearing fell apart during dissassembly and needed replaced. It didn't matter at the time as I bought a complete kit.
Fast forward till now, same car different owner now with over 200k miles. Not worth putting any more $ than necessary into the car. The owner only needs it to last a few more months, the complete kit is over $300 but disk only is $28. If the complete kit is needed then the rust bucket is going to the scrap yard, just the disk then it will live some more.
Is is possible to reuse this thing? Is there anything I need to do before I separate the engine/tranny that will make is salvageble?
Thanks guys
Yes you can re-use it, but if it breaks in 2 months you will be kicking your self hard! Check your service manual on how to recognize wear and damage.

Thanks, That makes me feel much better, I'm about to separate the tranny (got the comp in the shop)
I don't care if it goes in 2 months as long as the clutch is ingaged. That'll get them through and they'll give the car to me. I don't need it to work for a field beater.
So I don't need to do anything to keep it together as I take it out then? Thanks again
No it should either be clipped or bolted in.
