I recently bought a Sunfire with the Gm Supercharger kit. The transmission has a hole in the differential, i was wondering if anyone can tell me which transmission from the geo storm will swap out with mine and will this be worth my time, money and efforts for this swap. Is it the SOHC or DOHC and what years are compatible. Also will any of the other gears inside this transmission swap out with min to make my transmission be stronger and possibly/hopefully make them stronger and also longer. Thanks Josh
Well i am pretty sure that it is the getrag. It is a 1998 sunfire Gt 2.4 L with a manual transmission. Since it is supercharged i need something that is stronger and that will withstand more horsepower right now it is making 210 hp, and i plan on going with a nitrous setup and i want the transmission to be as close to bullet proof as possible. if you have a 98 most likely its an isuzu which you can put the spider gears in... now if somebody swapped to a getrag then thats a whole nother can o worms.... tell me where the fill cap is on the trans i will be able to tell you which trans you have...
I am also currious about this. I am looking into the Team Green LSD, however it puts more pressure on the spider gears. Dose this create a problem with the Getrag or just the Isuzu in the LD9?

its not necessarily the pressure per say on the spider gears but from one wheel burnouts.... which the lsd insert will prevent from happening. You could blow the diff in the getrag the same way by doing one wheel wonders because it heats up the diff way too much, but its less likey to happen due to the design of the diff.... another killer would be the wheel hop. all the isuzu takes is one hop and BOOM.
