just wnet to local trany shop today. He did a job for another guy that replaced everything inside with stock items and charged him just under $1,200
is this normal ?

If he replaced everything then that sounds cheap. Did that include the shop supplying new parts? What do you need?

yea that was the shop supplying everything (shift forks, syncronizers, gears, shift boots, the works) but me dropping it out the car
i just need second gear back should be the shift boot but i wont know for sure untill it gets tore apart

That is a steal (at least from what SpeedRacer told me the parts cost). Shift boot???? You mean shift fork. Sounds like you did what I did which will mean you might need a new second gear. Over half of my second gear was grinded off.

i dont know i can down shift into second and it will hold the car back but i cant accelerate at all. the guy at the shop said it needed a shift boot i have never heard of them either

Your shift fork for 1 and 2 gear it bent/broke. That is what happened to mine. I fixed mine but we had a extra tranny for parts. As stated you could get a used tranny for about $450-500.
